Serving Dixon Since 1987

Briarwood was originally a church plant from the Pulaski County Baptist Association in care of the Richland First Baptist Church in 1987. In the 39 years since it was first formed, the church was able to procure land, erect a building, and procure their own pastor, finally being recognized as their own separate church body.

In the intervening years, several pastors have come and gone, and the church has transitioned to a plural elder model under the leadership of Pastor Bill Davis, selecting two additional men to join the Council of Elders in 2010.

After Pastor Davis resigned the pastorate due to health concerns, the remaining two elders, Jerry Greene and Lindell Bishop, took over the regular preaching duties along with two other men in the church.

In 2017, another member of the church, Joel Hunt, was formally ordained to the gospel ministry, and added to the Council of Elders.

Elder Lindell Bishop stepped down from the Council of Elders in 2024.

Today, the church is bi-vocationally pastored by two elders, Jerry Greene and Joel Hunt, who alternate the preaching and teaching responsibilities.

Briarwood's music ministry is led by Tristan Lietz and Jeremy Kerfoot.

The Adult Sunday School class is led by Joseph Fraley and Jeremy Kerfoot, and a children's class for young children is taught by Sandy Kerfoot.
